Rose, being the first black security pug, wondered how she might be discernible from the other pugs visiting the Museum grounds where she assumed she would primarily work. Rose loved outfits on others, and loved adorning herself with neckpieces. But clothing…well…not really so much at all not no HATED GARMENTS!
She wondered if perhaps she would have to wear a vest like those emotional support dogs. The one Merry had wanted her to wear said, “Don’t panic, just manic.” But, she hadn’t really gone through all the procedures to gain the designation, so luckily that never panned out. Rose had even thought of what her jacket at the Nelson might say like “Arf for Art.” But, of course, she knew her place and that no one would really ask her oh-PIN-ion about it, much less let her design it.
Anyway, she appeared on the first day, bathed, shiny and black, with polished tooth.
And yes, the day began with an employee photo shoot, just what she LOVED to do.
FLASH!!
And…that was it.
Yes, it waaaas technically a badge. But, not a silvery shiny museum type of badge that she had envisioned, like the waiters at The Savoy or Museum Guards ‘back in the day’.
It was a photo of her inside of a plastic pocket. And, a bit of a disappointment…
Yes, it was on a cord, and perhaps this could later be embellished or swapped out for something a little more dressy, which slightly lifted her spirits.
And, while a little less impressive or substantial than the badge she had envisioned, she was very pleased with the picture. And, they had allowed her to keep on her own collar. So, it really was a very good first day.
